After graduating from the University of Texas School of Law in 1979, Mr. Bonner served as a law clerk to the Honorable Lucius D. Bunton, Senior District Judge, U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas until 1981. Mr. Bonner is an Advocate of the American Board of Trial Advocates, Past-President of the El Paso Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates, past Secretary/Treasurer, Vice President, and past President of TEX-ABOTA, a member and former director of the Texas Association of Defense Counsel, and former Chairman of the Admissions Committee for the Federal Bar for the Western District of Texas. Mr. Bonner is also a member of the State Bar of Texas, and the American Bar Association, the El Paso Bar Association, and the Defense Research Institute. Mr. Bonner was recognized as a "Texas Super Lawyer" by the publisher Thomson Reuters for the years 2005-2024, and has been selected by his peers for inclusion in the 2009-2025 editions of The Best Lawyers in America in the specialty of Insurance Law. He previously served on the boards of CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) and The American Red Cross – El Paso Chapter.
